생명 근원인 척수를 만드는 척추

사람의 뼈 속에 골수(骨髓)가 있는데, 척추 속에 있는 골수를 척수라고 부른다. 척수는 성질상 액체이며 피와 같은 성분이고 기능적으로 제1신경계에 속한다. 척수는 인간 생명의 근원이다. 생명을 잉태시키고 유지시킨다. 척수는 인간의 생식 기능과 밀접한 관계를 갖고, 남성의 정자와 여자의 난자를 생산하는 곳이다. 정자와 난자가 만나 잉태할 때 가장 먼저 형성되는 것이 척수다.
　
　사람이 노화된다는 것은 척수가 서서히 고갈되어 기가 통하지 않아 기력이 소진되었다는 것이며, 완전히 소진되면 죽는다. 무병장수하려면 척수가 고갈되지 않게 끊임없이 단전에 내공을 쌓아 척추의 요추 2, 3, 4번을 강하게 해야 한다.

　선도(仙道)에서는 우리 몸에 움직이는 기의 흐름을 내관(內觀)하여 이미 수천 년 전부터 척추 속에 있는 척수의 중요성을 알았다. 늙어서 척수가 고갈되면 등이 휘거나 뇌가 작아져 건망증이나 뇌졸중, 치매나 노망 등으로 나타난다. 망령이 들거나 정신을 잃는 것이다. 그리고 척추가 구부러지거나 휘어진다. 뇌출혈이 되면 뇌에서 터진 피가 척추(척수) 속으로 흘러 들어가 마비 현상이 오고 불구가 된다. 그래서 가장 큰 욕이 “골빈 놈”이라는 욕이다.
　
　손끝, 발끝으로 기운을 보내는 것은 골을 채우기 위해서다. 골다공증이 있으면 유연함이 없어진다. 모든 건강은 척수에 달려 있다. 척수를 충만하게 해야 젊음이 유지된다. 척수가 맑아지고 충만해지면 노화에서 벗어날 수 있다. 치매도 방지할 수 있다. 정신이, 눈이 맑아지고 세상이 밝아진다.

　척추가 가장 중요한 이유는 척수를 만드는 곳이기 때문이다. 이곳을 강하게 만들어야 자세가 곧고 건강할 수 있다. 인간이 두 발로 걸으면서 좋아진 것은 척추의 척수에너지가 머리로 올라가서 두뇌용량이 늘어난 결과이다. 그러나 그 반대로 척추가 압박을 받아 그것으로 인해 각종 질병에 시달리게 되었다.
　
　오장육부의 뿌리는 척추다. 척추가 건강해지면 오장육부도 튼튼해진다. 척추만 제자리를 잡고 있으면 오장육부 모든 기능이 괜찮아진다. 척추는 S자형 곡선을 이루며 적당한 탄력을 갖추고 오장육부와 연결돼 있다. 척추가 휘거나 이상이 생기면 바로 해당 장기에 반응이 일어난다. 위와 장이 망가졌다면 뭐가 먼저 망가진 것일까? 척추다. 모든 장부(腸腑)에서 생기는 병의 원인은 대부분 척추에 있다. 척추만 제대로 되면 거의 해결된다. 배가 아프면 척추를 펼 수 없다.

　사람의 몸은 척추만 제자리에 있다면 잘 늙지 않는다. 그런데 척추가 제자리에 있기가 어렵다. 나이 들어서도 발끝부터 다리가 쭉 펴지고 힙(hip)이 올라 붙어서 척추를 받치고 서서 똑바로 걸을 수 있어야 한다. 나이와 상관없이 척추가 제대로 된 사람이 거의 없다. 노인의 몸이 왜 추한가? 척추가 비틀어져 있기 때문이다. 나이 들어 고관절이 자유자재로 움직이지 않으면 허리가 굽은 채로 걷게 된다.

　모든 기운은 척추에서 나온다. 척추의 기운이 시발점이다. 척추에 운기가 되지 않으면 아무리 좋은 것을 먹어도 소용없다. 가장 중요한 것은 척추가 바로 서는 것이다. 그러려면 척추를 받치고 있는 골반과 대퇴가 바로 서야 한다. 골반과 대퇴가 바로 서려면 고관절과 무릎이 받쳐줘야 한다. 하지(다리)는 기둥이다. 척추를 받치기 위해 있는 것이다. 하지와 골반이 허리를 딱 받쳐주면 바로 단전에 기운이 간다.
